Lee & Joe Jamail Texas Swim CenterAll training sessions for the Longhorns Diving Camp are held at the Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swim Center (TSC), which is generally recognized as one of the nation’s finest facilities. The TSC has hosted the U.S. National Championships, the Junior Olympics National Championships, the NCAA Championships, and the U.S. Olympic Diving Trials.
The TSC’s many features make it an ideal environment for learning new diving skills. The diving pool is 25 yards square, and its depth varies between 14 and 18 feet. It is equipped with four 1-meter boards and six 3-meter boards, all of which are Model B maxiflex, as well as five platforms at the 1-, 3-, 5, 7 1/2- and 10-meter levels. There are four Canadian bubbler systems to help facilitate the learning of new and difficult dives. On-deck diving equipment includes: two trampolines, dry-boards over two port-a-pits, tower pit, exercise mats, a hot tub and new TV monitors with TiVo, constant video play-back of dives. The Dobie CenterResident campers stay on campus with counselors in the Dobie center. Campers are housed two to a room in a campus dorm located within walking distance to all activities. The dorm dining hall offers a variety of food on an all-you-can-eat basis for a well-rounded, balanced diet.
Responsible counselors—who reside in the dorm--and experienced coaches provide supervision for the Camp’s divers, including the weekends for campers staying more than one week. Click here for the Dobie Center official website. |
